Suburban myths are common mistaken beliefs that are passed on as "known truths" through the ages, generation to generation, from father to son, mother to daughter and grandparents to grandchildren, even from "experts" to laymen.

Suburban myths are not to be confused with urban legends. Myth 1. Evolution is just a theory. However, Creationism is just a theory, too. Natural selection does not require that one “get rid of God as the creator of life” any more than heliocentrism requires one to get rid of God as the creator of the heavens.
Myth 2. Darwin's theory of evolution, the theory of natural selection, implies inequality of sexes, races, and nations. If you check out Darwin's book, The Origin of Species (now available as an e-book), one of the most controversial books ever written, you will find that Darwin wrote nothing hinting to support this myth. In The Origin of Species, Darwin explains his theory of evolution, starting a feud between science and the church that still goes on to this day. Darwin's book introduced the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection.The political and theological implications have been intensely debated to this day. Myth 75. Fingerprint identification used by law enforcement agencies has been validated by many scientific studies that have proven that every person has a unique set of fingerprints. Furthermore, experts in fingerprint identification have passed a rigorous exam to test their ability to match fingerprints under controlled conditions.
Myth 76. Freud based his early view of neurosis on frequent reports from his female patients that they had been sexually abused in childhood.
Myth 77. Freud published numerous reports documenting that his patients had been fantasizing sexual abuse.
