Ten Years after 9/11, the Conspiracy Theories Continue. What do You Believe?

10 Years Later, there are still some who reject the Proof that Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda were behind the 9/11 Attacks as only Theories.

Ten years after 9/11, there are still plenty of skeptics calling themselves "Truthers" who doubt the government's theory that the attacks were organized by Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda operatives. 

There are those who believe that 9/11 was an "inside job" orchestrated by the Bush administration to gather public support for a New World Order and global domination. Others believe the CIA orchestrated the whole thing, while still others believe it was a Jewish conspiracy, executed by the Mossad.

Personally, I believe 9/11 was indeed a conspiracy: 19 members of al-Qaeda plotting to fly planes into buildings is a conspiracy by definition. However, conspiracy theorists like myself are skeptical until a claim is proven, requiring a concerted effort that many people do not make.

Truther's tend to believe that everything is interconnected and everything happens for a reason. They connected the dots of random events into meaningful patterns, adding hidden forces behind the scenes pulling the strings. They looked for and found confirming evidence for what they already believe and ignore the dis-confirming evidence, tailoring after-the-fact explanations to fit the facts, until they had the foundation of a conspiracy.

I wanted to find a relevant video for this article, showing the extent of the Truther's influence, but when I did a search on YouTube for, "9/11 conspiracy theories" I was overwhelmed with no less than 18,600 results. So, I have decided to present you the most popular one, with the most views. Here is a 9/11 conspiracy video receiving over 23 million views! That's right, the 9/11: Total Proof That Bombs Were Planted In The Buildings! video received 23,395,814 views at the time of this article! Judge it for yourself:

As someone who believes in existence of several different conspiracies, including the existence of New World Order, I still tend to believe in the US government's version on this one. I am a rationalist. I believe in logic.

Concerning 9/11, I have read all the articles and watched all the videos explaining the Truther's theory, yet based on evidence and rationality, I tend to believe our government's theory on this one. At least the bigger part of it. There are still questions that need answers, but for the most part, I am convinced Osama bi Laden and al Qaeda planned and orchestrated the attacks of 9/11. Here's why:
 

• The well-established evidence of Osama bin Laden as a major financier and leader of al Qaeda.
• The 1993 attack on the World Trade Center.
• The 1995 attempt to blow up 12 planes heading from the Philippines to the U.S.
• The 1995 bombings of U.S. Embassy buildings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 12 Americans and 200 local civilians.
• The 1996 official declaration of jihad against the United States by bin Laden.
• The 1996 attack in Saudi Arabia on the Khobar Towers that killed 19 U.S. soldiers.
• The 1998 calling on followers of Islam, "to kill the Americans and their allies (civilian and military) is an individual duty for any Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it."
• The 1999 attempt by Ahmed Ressam to attack Los Angeles International Airport.
• The 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole that killed 17 U.S. sailors.
• The 2004 al-Qaeda Madrid train bombings.
• The 2005 al-Qaeda London bombings.

If that doesn't convince you, consider the statement issued by al-Qaeda following the 2009 underwear bombing on Christmas Day:

"Be prepared to suffer because the killing is coming and we prepared you men who love death just as you love life and by God's permission, we will come to you with more things that you have never seen before. Because, as you kill, you will be killed and tomorrow is coming soon. The martyrdom brother was able to reach his objective with the grace of God but due to a technical fault, the full explosion did not take place."

Reading this, how could you question al-Qaeda's motive, resolve and follow-through on everything terror? Even if they hadn't orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, they would have if they could have.

Since conspiracies do happen, however, we cannot just automatically dismiss all conspiracy theorists as false. There have been a lot of conspiracy theories that have turned out to be true, or believed to be true, that we must look at conspiracy theories with our eyes and minds wide open.

A decade has gone by since the most horrendous attack on America soil sine Pearl Harbor, so it is time to put aside irrational Truther's conspiracy mongering. We could and should spend our time more wisely, investigating real political issues, such as the relative costs vs. benefits of the wars we are currently engaged in and their effects on our failing economy.

Enough Americans have died because of al Qaeda! Let us mourn those who have fallen and pray for those who survived. Let us count our losses. Let's get the hell out of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, and not even think about attacking anybody else but our debt.
